hello, we're woodlands
A small pre-school playgroup, grown in High Heaton.
Mornings of mud, songs and snack-time, next to Heaton Library. We take 2–4 year olds, term-time, with funded places available.
We're a community interest company, in the same children's centre beside Heaton Library since 2015. Small groups, real outdoor time, and the kind of place where everyone learns your child's name in the first week.

A qualified, experienced team
Eight staff members including two Level 3 Early Years educators, a SENCO, a specialist playworker, and a qualified teacher. Small groups mean staff genuinely know your child.

Weekly library visits
Every Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon we head to Heaton Library — a favourite part of the week for children and staff alike.

Strong links to local schools
Most of our children move on to Cragside Primary, Benton Park, Ravenswood or West Jesmond. We work closely with local reception teachers to make that transition feel easy.

Always in the loop.
We use the Famly app to share photos and videos of your child having fun at playgroup. Parents and carers can log in any time to see what their little one has been up to — like and comment on moments as they happen. Everything shared is yours to keep.

Woodlands Nursery is wonderful. My daughter always comes home happy, chatty, and bursting with energy after her time there — it's clear the caring staff create a genuinely warm and supportive space. We're heartbroken to leave due to our house move.

Woodlands is honestly one of the most amazing playgroups I've ever been to. The staff here are so lovely and really down to earth. I have no worries at all about leaving my children with such wonderful and caring staff. I would recommend them to anyone.

Fabulous pre-school with lots of outside play space. Couldn't recommend enough. The staff are wonderful. My daughter has attended for the past two years and my son will be going too!

Absolutely amazing nursery — all the staff are so lovely. They are all supportive and do anything they can to help. They are also amazing at getting support for SEN kids. Would 100% recommend to anyone!
